Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Strategists tables.
